la violence au travail

The coffee machines are ugly woodcut sculptures drooling coffee on the floor. A claw machine distributes curriculums of real job applicants. Les thermes are a wooden giant ball pool containing 22 000 engraved black plastic balls, in which the public immerse itself to read carvings on balls (90 different stoician maxims) and listen to a small philosophy conference.

Les repondeurs are a study on the diversity of french accents based on answering machines messages. Le discours is a political karaoke taking place behind inflatable puppets for an audience sitting in a sculpture made of inflatable castles (les chateaux).

Buttons are to be pressed, questions to be asked, videos to be seen. France distraction tries to put the stress on the way an audience should be dealt with.

France Distraction is a series of installations around which the audience can move freely. Some feature interventions such as small performances, lectures or concerts that take place at specific moments, given by five performers. Most installations also work without activation.

France Distraction feels like you came to celebrate the bosss birthday in an company manufacturing experimental team-building devices, and everybody decided to have fun with the stock (not your average party). The audience may sit on the desks of an openspace that has been customised. If they pick up the phones, they can hear on-hold music played live by two musicians locked in cubicles (le standard), pick up motivational drawings printed automatically, listen to music coming out of the radiators.
